Equality, Diversity & Accessibility

We aim to develop a culture of inclusion and diversity
– The Danesgate Community Accessibility Plan

The Danesgate Community welcomes our duties under the Equality Act 2010, and in particular our duties in regard to the Public Sector Equality Duty – to eliminate discrimination, advance equality of opportunity and to foster good relations.  We are also fully committed to meeting our responsibilities in regards to the Prevent StrategyPromoting British Values, and other similar equality initiatives and work to support the Special Educational Needs of all our students.

Equality Objectives

At the Danesgate Community, we are committed to ensuring equality of education and opportunity for all pupils, staff, parents and carers, irrespective of race, gender, disability, belief, religion or socio-economic background.
  • To promote spiritual, moral, social and cultural development through all appropriate curricular opportunities, with particular reference to issues of equality and diversity
  • To reduce the incidence of the use of homophobic language by pupils in school
  • To reduce prejudice and increase understanding of equality through direct teaching across the curriculum
  • To promote cultural development and understanding through a rich range of experiences both in and beyond the school

These Equality Objectives for the next four years were agreed in 2018, and we intend to evaluate them annually.
