Y11 Expressive Arts win the The National Crimebeat Award!

Away from their Y11 exam studies our Y11 Expressive Arts group have won a National competition winning the school £1000!

There were 30 groups of finalists in all this year, from all over the country. We won the North Yorkshire regional final a few weeks ago and represented North Yorkshire at the finals in London. Our entry was a film about anti social behaviour on the bus and what we are doing to try to stop people behaving badly on buses but also about how we change stereotypical images about young people. Ellie Boyes and Jack Johnson were co-presenters. We were in “Category A” a project initiated and carried out by the young people, with adult supervision. Other groups were older, some had been working on their projects for a long time and were experts in doing presentations.

The results were announced in reverse order and we were surprised to realise we had won after strong competition from a group from Luton and one from Nottingham.
